Session Fees

Initial Assessment: $225

My first initial assessment is a 60 minute session that will focus on why you are seeking therapy along with some developmental history and any current symptoms and presenting problems. This will also allow us time to learn more about the therapeutic process, ensure that I am a good fit for you, set treatment goals based on your individual needs, and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Continued Sessions: $200 for one hour sessions or $175 for 45 minute sessions

After the initial assessment you will be able to decide whether you would like to set up 45 or 60 minute sessions; you will also have the flexibility to adjust this on a weekly basis depending on your current needs. The goal of our sessions will be to work on any of the treatment goals we have previously identified along with working on any new goals that you may have have that arise along the way. The purpose of this is to reduce any symptoms you may be experiencing in order to assist you with leading a happier and healthier lifestyle.

Educational Consulting

Navigating your child’s needs can be challenging, especially when trying to understand the educational process; sometimes even the terminology alone can be confusing! Have you heard of a 504 plan or an IEP?  Do you know what those acronyms mean?  As a current certified school social worker and intermediate administrator, I can assist you with understanding the different supports available to your child within the school setting.

Consultation of Current Program: $200

Consultation of current programming (i.e. a current 504 plan or IEP) will include a 45 minute session along with a typed letter of recommendation(s) for future progress where applicable.

Consultation of New Program: $300

Consultation of new programming (i.e. for a child that does not currently have a 504 plan or IEP) will include a 90 minute session that will allow us to get a better understanding of your child’s needs. This 90 minute session will give us time to speak one on one as well as together with your child. A typed letter of recommendation(s) will be included for you to share with your child’s school team.  Additional sessions or evaluations may be recommended as a result of this consultation and the cost will be discussed with you at that time to determine whether or not you would like to proceed.

Social Emotional Evaluation: $400

A social emotional evaluation, also called bio-psycho-social report, is a tool used to understand a child’s complete developmental history.  This evaluation will include a comprehensive intake of your child’s needs, past and present, a parent/guardian interview (60 minutes), and a child interview (60 minutes). A report will be generated that discusses your child’s past and current levels of functioning across various domains (i.e. socially, educationally, emotionally, etc.). Please note that this is not a cognitive evaluation; instead this will include qualitative information that is utilized to understand your child’s needs both in and out of the classroom.  You will receive recommendations for next steps within your written report.

Insurance

At this time, I do not accept insurance.  However, if your insurance accepts an out of network provider, such as myself, I am happy to complete a claim form at my convenience for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.  Please note, I am not responsible for any non-payment or reimbursement from your insurance company and you will still be responsible for the full fee of the session at each visit. It is your responsibility to discuss this with your insurance company further to see if you meet criteria for this option. Credit card payment is the only acceptable form of payment at this time.

Good Faith Estimate (GFE)

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals need to give clients who either do not have insurance or who are not using insurance a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.  This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.  However, you must receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your scheduled medical service or item when scheduled three days in advance and at least 3 business days prior to your appointment when scheduled 10 days in advance.

What you will receive in your GFE:

You will receive a written Good Faith Estimate (GFE) that includes an estimate of services (type of therapy/estimate of frequency) and estimated costs for those services for a 12 month period.

Psychotherapy is unique in that it is not possible to predict how your personal therapeutic process will unfold until we get started; there are many factors that contribute to this and every person’s plan is different. The following is information that will help you anticipate and plan the cost of your therapy with Jennifer Penna LCSW, PPLC.

At times, additional services are requested/required, for example in times of stress or emergency, high conflict scheduling issues, collaboration with other professionals, or collaboration with other family members (for example in the case where a minor is the client there will be additional sessions with parents ranging from weekly to monthly depending on the minor’s age and therapeutic needs).  All other fees will be noted in the Fee Policy prior to intake.

You have the right to dispute your charges if:

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.  You can also call me 203-228-1327 to discuss.
